Manchester United to sign eSports team?

Esports

One of the biggest sports clubs in the world, Manchester United, are competing to sign an unnamed Overwatch team.

Sporting brands signing eSports teams and players is starting to become a common thing. West Ham United previously signing their own eSports player to represent them in FIFA tournaments and Schalke having signed their own League of Legends team.

Now one of the biggest and well known football clubs in the world are competing to sign a team for Overwatch, the brand new FPS. This makes Manchester United the most recent sports team to register interest in eSports and the first that are looking into a team for Overwatch.

Manchester United will be competing with Fnatic who are also very interested in signing up this unnamed professional team. A third group are also said to be interested in the team.

If it comes down to money I can only see there being one winner with Manchester United and their £2bn value compared to Fnatic who are valued at £30m.

With Manchester United now entering into the eSports industry, don’t be surprised if you see more big sporting names entering the frame.
