Brand New Xbox Coming 2017?

Video Games

There has been a lot of speculation recently that there could be brand new consoles on the way from Sony and Microsoft. These potential consoles won’t be moving into a new generation of consoles, they would be an upgrade on either the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

Kotaku have reported that next year will see the introduction of a new Xbox console, codenamed Scorpio. The Scorpio will have a much more powerful GPU and will be able to support 4K resolution. This console will be a huge upgrade on the Xbox One and it is likely to be unveiled at E3 next month.

The Scorpio is also expected to be able to support the Oculus Rift, the brand new VR system. Microsoft is actively pursuing a partnership with Oculus which would be very beneficial if the new Xbox is able to support the Oculus Rift.

The Scorpio is not the only piece of Xbox news that Kotaku issued yesterday. Microsoft is also set to bring out a smaller version of the Xbox One this year. Not only will this Xbox One be smaller, it will also have a 2TB HDD. The current Xbox One only has a 1TB HDD, so the console will double in storage as well as being reduced by 40% in size. This slim Xbox could also include 4K resolution and will be cheaper.

Microsoft are also set to reveal two new streaming devices at E3 for the Xbox. It’s a very exciting time for everyone at Microsoft.

Will this push Sony to release a PlayStation 4.5? Let us know in the comments!
